What is a water decals?

Water decals, more properly called waterslide decals, are thin printed markings used on model kits. They can add logos, warning labels, unit numbers, emblems and small mechanical details.

To apply a waterslide decal, you cut out the marking, soak it briefly in water, then slide it from the backing paper onto the model. Once it is in the right position, you remove the extra water and let it dry.

Waterslide decals usually look cleaner and thinner than standard stickers. They sit more naturally on the model surface, especially when used with decal setting or softening solutions. This is why many builders prefer them for a more professional finish.

They do take patience. A decal can fold, tear or move if handled too roughly, so it helps to use tweezers, cotton buds and a soft brush. Many builders also apply a top coat afterwards to protect the decals and blend the finish.

Waterslide decals are a great upgrade if you want your Gunpla or scale model to look more detailed and complete. Kidultverse stocks decals and finishing supplies for customers looking to add sharper detail to their kits.
